Spraying for plant pests scheduled for July 21
Bland Landscaping will be spraying for plant pests in the neighborhood beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21st.
All of the products being used are the safest available and none of the products are harmful to people or pets once they have dried on the plant. However, the HOA is requesting that homeowners and animals to stay out of the areas being sprayed.
Please be aware that this process will take most of the morning and if the technician is near your home, you should stay indoors with windows, doors and garage doors closed.
Tim Mendenko, the account manger for Bland Landscaping, said a combination of UP-Star Gold and Distance will be used to treat gloomy scale on maple trees and some other scale on shrubs.
UP-Star Gold is an insecticide that is labeled for use around residential buildings on turf and ornamental plants. Distance is an insect growth regulator that slows down and disrupts growth cycles of pests. The combination has a chemical smell that will last for four to six hours after application.
The chemical is safe to the touch once it has dried, but Bland Landscaping does not recommend excessive contact with the plant material until later in the day. More information about both chemicals can be found on their labels, as follows:

To treat the powdery mildew in some of the crape myrtles, Bland Landscaping will use a fungicide called Cleary's 3336. This product has no smell and is also safe once it has dried on the plant. More information about Cleary's 3336 can be found on the label as follows:

Recent projects include second year of Phase I painting
The HOA has been busy this past summer. Listed below is a report submitted by Joe Pugliese on various projects in various stages of planning and completion.
Phase I painting: The painting of 18 units in Phase I has been completed, along with the power washing of fences and patios for these buildings as well as those units in Phase I that were painted last year. This work is part of the three-year plan to paint all of Phase I in a three-year process that will be completed in 2010.
Phase II painting and power washing: Two unpainted fences along White Pond Court will be painted and five units along White Pond Court with algae will be power washed. Other units that may be powerwashed are being reviewed.
Gutter Cleaning: A contractor has been hired to clean all 112 gutters at $10 per unit.
Decks: Stained decks will be pressure washed in accordance with new HOA matrix guidelines.
The Irrigation System: Bland Landscaping continues to make clock control adjustments and sprinkler head repairs to ensure proper coverage to all areas. One problem area now being addressed is the grass along the Walden Creek Drive sidewalk. |
